Why Music Is Life?
The Music Is Life project is about, you guessed it, the music. Everything we do is music, from the walk in the rustling trees, to the crashing waves on the rocks to creaky shoes on tile floors. We, at Music Is Life wanted to bring this unifying culture to a downtrodden, despondent, discouraged society of citizens. So Music Is Life was born.
Music Is Life is about hearing, showcasing, discovering and appreciating new artists, artists whom might not have a chance otherwise. But by no means is the Music Is Life project only about the artist. It’s also about the community, a one world community of sound. While I know this is a lofty goal, the world’s societies banding together under a banner of sound, it is a goal that is very achievable. Why is it Achievable? It’s achievable because, like you, we have tastes, desires, wants, needs and above all else the understanding that under the umbrella of music all is possible. Where else can a waitress from Burleson, Texas go on to be a world wide singing star. Where else can a band from Orange County rock the youth of the country? Where else can you find thousands upon thousands of people, young and old, reaching for the starts? No where that is but in the field of music.
Music Is Life is starting out small. Small enough to sneak under the radar of the major music conglomerates, the massive music machines on T.V., the un-caring “it’s all about the money” exec’s, but still large enough to shake the very foundation of the music industry with a revolution of sound. We all have a part to play if the future is to be. And the future is now! So get up, get down, join, comment, vote, rate, praise, listen, and above all enjoy….The future is now and the future of music is the Music Is Life project.
This is a blog about music. And while there are so many music sites and music blogs out there, our upcoming Music Is Life website will not only talk about music, it will develop a real community, a community of like minded individuals that live, breathe, love, laugh, cry and desire the sharing of their ideals, ideas and favorites
So sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey. This, hopefully, will be a unique ride for all of us.

Hello! Well I’m Dyon and I grew up in Los Angeles, lived all over the country and have traveled to foreign lands. Throughout my life and my travels I’ve always heard music in everything around me. Not only do I hear music in songs and videos, I hear music in everyday life. I hear music in the birds singing, I hear music in the waves in the ocean and I also hear music in the heart and dreams of all the artists out there that don’t get exposure.
This is why I am like totally excited in developing a community that encourages everyone that likes music to participate. I have the strongest desire to see people finding undiscovered talent and developing a connection that not only helps the new artists but helps their fans as well. I mean come on, wouldn’t it be great to find an artist that you have never heard of before and follow them as they become a world wide sensation?
I came up with this idea for Music is Life during a recent trip to London where I went to see my favorite band perform. Many of you know them, Skunk Anansie. While I was there I was able to develop an incredible relationship with their opening act, Emma. I could see the desire in Erica’s eyes and felt the hope that one day her band will be successful. This site is for all those out there like her, and those like me. It’s the combining of the growth of the artist and the connection with their fans. So in general I believe that a community needs to be created that encourages musicphiles.. And it’s coming!

I discovered music in my middle school years when I often needed an escape. I lost myself in punk rock bands such as A.F.I, Bad Religion, Dead Kennedys, The Distillers, Millencolin, MxPx and Rancid to name a few of my favorites at the time. Unsurprisingly, Brody Dalle (of the Distillers, and now Spinerette) formed as my style icon. Yes, even I rocked studded clothing and colorful hair. Thus my love for music grew, and by the time I had my drivers license I was full throttle in the local band ‘scene‘ of Portland. I was an addict to live music; the double kick drum being my sound of choice. Not to mention the guys that attended these shows weren’t too shabby looking either (I’m a sucker for a good mohawk!). It’s the talented and driven people at these local shows, my friends, that I am excited to help through this website.
Furthermore, my music choices have developed over the years. My current most listened to tracks are from BTBAM, Bury Your Dead, Chiodos, MyChildren MyBride, Saosin, Thrice, Underoath and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Don’t think you have me all figured out though. You’ll catch me happily dancing on the bar at local hot spots to whatever dance beat the DJ delivers.
As for my local fix, currently I’m digging local threats – Search Rescue and Shawn McDonald from Seattle, and Portland’s Sixteen Cities.
I’m passionate about music and fashion because they express the mood of the World. Unlike the architecture and art that surround us (although lovely capsules of that time), music and fashion are ever transforming and shifting with the way we feel. I’m excited to be a part of the future of music, and this growing community at Music-Is-Life.com.

I am the web nerd behind this project. I think it is a great concept and I am really looking forward to rolling out a slick web interface that will make all relevant users want to participate. I believe in open source code and sharing so this project is just that. We are building it using the Wordpress Multiuser framework with the buddypress overlay with the goal to have user input on how we can tweak it better – so please speak up.
I consider myself a music elitist mostly because all I listen to is electronic music since it is all I really like. Not that I think I am better than others – I just only listen to music with a beat and that bothers some.
Btw, this is the kind of electronic music I am currently into… (it’s called dubstep) – I will share more as time goes on. First I need to finish building the site.
